On Friday, President Barack Obama tweaked Gov. Bob McDonnell and Virginia legislators during a campaign event in Washington hosted by the Women’s Leadership Forum and Women for Obama.

Ultrasounds possible at Women’s Resource Center by summer

NORTH PLATTE – The Women’s Resource Center has taken a giant leap forward in its effort to provide free ultrasounds to pregnant women. Dr. Caroline Sorenson of Platte River Rehab Medicine has volunteered to be the facility’s medical director.

It’s an important step, according to Amy Woods, WRC executive director. Knights of Columbus raised enough money for an ultrasound machine for the center, but the WRC couldn’t apply for it until a medical director was identified.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued warnings for doctors, hospitals and clinics regarding contaminated ultrasound gel produced by a New Jersey company that infected 16 cardiac patients and could pose serious risks to pregnant women and others who undergo ultrasound imaging and treatment.
