Newly published by Elsevier Australia, the ‘Critical Care Ultrasound Manual’ is an indispensible medical textbook for critical care physicians at every level.
As the need for emergency ultrasounds become ever more essential, so too does the need for critical care staff to assess these ultrasounds and make vital management decisions with confidence and speed, as the situation dictates. This is where the ‘Critical Care Ultrasound Manual’ shines.
Authored by critical care experts from the University of Sydney and Nepean Hospital, the ‘Critical Care Ultrasound Manual’ boasts a user-friendly layout and offers readers step-by-step advice, complemented by explanatory diagrams and ultrasound images.
A DVD featuring animated video clips of cross-referenced procedures accompanies the 200-page textbook. This not only enhances the book’s ample content but also help readers understand key concepts in ultrasound assessment.
Working through the ‘Critical Care Ultrasound Manual’, critical care physicians will learn how to apply Rapid Assessment by Cardiac Echo (RACE) and Focused Assessment with Sonography in Trauma (FAST) to sonography principles.
Readers can test their knowledge with multiple-choice questions in each chapter, while practical tips and cautions are highlighted in boxes for easy reference.
The book’s appendices provide a checklist to assist interpretation of transthoracic echocardiogram in a systematic way, as well as a chapter on Doppler principles for those who wish to prepare the way for Doppler measurements.
