WHAT:
Philips brings CX50 ultrasound systems to NorthWest Children’s Heart Care, an affiliate of Pediatrix Medical Group, a practice with an echocardiography lab that is accredited in both pediatric transthoracic echocardiography and fetal echocardiography by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission for Echocardiography Laboratories. NorthWest Children’s Heart Care serves the Puget Sound region of Washington with clinics in Tacoma, Puyallup, Renton, Centralia, Olympia, Silverdale and Aberdeen.

WHY:
As part of its mission to provide the most comprehensive pediatric cardiac care in the Puget Sound region, clinicians at NorthWest Children’s Heart Care constantly travel to various locations to see a broad spectrum of patients. This requires bringing along equipment in order to make diagnoses and informed decisions for treatment plans. After using Philips’ iE33 cart-based ultrasound system successfully, the practice looked to Philips for help with portable ultrasound and selected the Philips CX50 platform with the Vision 2012 upgrade. Vision 2012 expands the CX50 capabilities to pediatrics, allowing cardiac, abdominal and neonatal cephalic imaging of pediatric and neonatal patients.
“We had experienced image quality problems with our old compact system and we were looking for a way to access consistently clearer images and better serve our patients,” said Matthew Park, M.D., director, echocardiology lab, Northwest Children’s Heart Care. “Once we got a chance to test the CX50, we were impressed by the image quality when we compared it to our previous compact equipment; therefore we knew CX50 was an excellent choice.”
The CX50 portable ultrasound will be used across the current outreach locations of NorthWest Children’s Heart Care and will be on hand for use at its new facility in Issaquah when it opens later this year.
